The land currently known as High Meadow Farm was the primary center of a historical farm which was originally settled in the 1700’s by the Wells family. It is believed that the smaller cabin on the property, which is latched together with mud, once served as a living space for the family, as it is customary for these style cabins to be used as such. The adjacent larger two story barn was built at a later date, probably in the late 1800 or early 1900’s. These two barns are connected by a lean to, and now serve as the High Meadow Farm clubhouse.
Throughout the property, there are artifacts that tell the story of life on the farm. Antique tractor parts and mining equipment leave traces of what a day on the farm once included. As our research into the history of this unique property continues, it is our hope to create placards which tell the story of the Wells family, and the life they lived in Caswell County, NC many centuries ago.
